Stanley

It was one year ago when we first brought Stanlee (Stanny, as he is known to our family) home from Pug Luv. He just celebrated his birthday with us last week. He is the central part of our lives now and we can’t imagine how we ever got along without him. He has been happy and loving from day one and never had any trouble adjusting. We have taught him how to wait, shake, and give kisses on command. He also knows “stay” and “come” but has difficulty doing those when he is distracted, which is most of the time. J He has so many stuffed toys now that we keep having to upgrade to a bigger toy box and he plays with all of them. Many of them are monkey as they are his favorite. One of his favorite things to do is pile several toys up on the couch to snuggle with him. I think we’ve counted as many as 12 toys on the couch at one time! He loves playing outside in the sun and going for walks as long as they are not too long. (When the walk is too long, he lets us know he’s tired by dramatically collapsing on his stomach without warning.) He also loves going “bye bye,” which is anywhere we go in the car. He immediately jumps up and goes to the door excitedly when he hears the word “bye bye.” He’s recently discovered the joy of going to Dairy Queen and getting a spoon of ice cream fed to him by the person working the drive-through just for looking so cute so this is one of his favorite outings. One thing he is not a fan of is wearing clothes, but we put him in them sometimes anyway. He looks too adorable in them not to, as you can tell from his picture. J We love our Stanny pug so much and are so grateful to Pug Luv for giving us the opportunity to bring him into our lives! Thanks, Mindy

Skippy

One year ago April 5th, we picked up Skippy and brought him to his forever home. One of my girls said that it was the "BEST DAY OF HER LIFE". After a couple days of adjustment Skippy fit right in. He thrives on being a part of the family, that is being close to us all the time. I have to admit the promises of my three children, that they will walk him, feed him, etc have never come to fruition, but he adores each of them. They say it takes a Village to raise a child, well, it takes one to raise a dog too. The neighbors adore Skippy and offer to walk him and feed him if we are not going to be home for an extended period. Skippy had a rough time with a stomach issues and scratched his cornea (while sniffing under shrubs we think), he is adored by all the Vets that have cared for him and helped him heal. My girlfriend got me a picture frame that says "who saved who" and I have to say that he has been such a joy and enhancement to our lives. He manages to get on top of the kitchen table and counters, he is a little monkey, we learned his tricks pretty fast though. When we picked him up he was 14 pounds, today he is about 21 pounds which is ideal for him. He loves to go for long walks and loves to sit on my lap and for some reason he loves clothes hampers (clean or dirty, he doesn't care). I wanted to Thank Michigan Pug Luv for allowing us to adopt Skippy, he is a wonderful little guy. Thanks again, Kristen, Bijal, Sam, Claudia, Lauren & Skippy

Spencer

Just thought I would send a quick update about the love of my life, Spencer. He has been fantastic and such a gift. He has adjusted so nicely to our home. He takes the term "lap dog" very seriously, and is rarely not on my lap. He enjoys sunbathing, running ( a lot... and VERY quickly), eating, and sleeping on down comforters. He loves car rides and trips to the pet store (he occasionally tries to drive). We have learned that windshield wipers are considered immediate danger and he lunges at every opportunity. He finds the two fish fascinating, as he jumps on the closest chair to watch them swim. Spencer has also been very well behaved as I have begun to introduce him to Violet, my beloved rabbit. I have no doubt that after a few more meet and greets they will become very close siblings. Thank you very much for allowing us to have such an adorable creature. We could not be any happier with our new son! Love, Caroline and Brian

Stu

adopted Stu in November in 2009. He was recovering from femoral neck fractures and bilateral Legg-Perthes (which is a disease that causes a collapse in the hip joint). When I adopted Stu I had to perform various exercises with him to strengthen his hip bones and the muscles around them. He recovered perfectly from the surgery and the vet said that the exercises helped. Since the day I brought him home he has been a loyal companion. Stu eventually learned to walk on his back legs and even learned how to jump through his healing process. I have owned 2 pugs before Stu and I could not be more happy with how the Pug Rescue took care of him before I adopted him. Based on the cost of Stu's surgery, there is a good chance that in the wrong care Stu could have been euthanized. I am very happy that did not happen!!!
