Puppy Mills
Do you think anything should live in the conditions shown below?
This is a picture of an Indiana puppy mill.
The Family Puppy/The Family of Pets is Michigan's largest puppy selling chain that hides behind cute puppies. Michigan already has enough puppy selling stores and we will not allow more to open! Genesee County is saying no to puppy selling stores! Let's send a strong message to the owners that we won't buy their lies.
A 6 month investigation was conducted and they are indeed working with puppy mills.

Michigan Pet Stores Take ‘Puppy Friendly’ Pledge
(June 21, 2010) – Thanks to the efforts of local advocates with the Puppy Mill Awareness Meetup of Southeast Michigan, nearly one hundred Michigan pet stores have recently signed The Humane Society of the United States' puppy friendly pet store pledge — committing not to sell puppies, and instead support local animal adoption programs and provide literature that helps customers learn how to locate a reputable breeder. The HSUS applauds these retailers because their actions prove it is not necessary to support the cruel puppy mill trade to operate a successful pet-related business.
"These stores have set a positive example of corporate responsibility for other businesses to follow," said Jill Fritz, Michigan state director for The HSUS. "Pet stores that profit from the cruel puppy mill industry need to step up and do the right thing by stopping their puppy sales. I am thrilled to have wonderful local advocates like the Puppy Mill Awareness Meetup of Southeast Michigan working in our area to increase the public’s awareness of puppy mills.”
Store owners and managers who sign The HSUS' pledge receive a placard proclaiming, "We love puppies; that's why we don't sell them," to display in the store, as well as materials about adopting a dog or finding a responsible breeder. The HSUS encourages shoppers to purchase pet supplies at stores displaying the puppy-friendly sign.

Stop Puppy Mills Puppy Mill Rescue In Memory of Magic, Voice for the Voiceless fight against puppy mills PM Rescue A Puppy Mills Dog Plea
Why We Rescue From Puppy Mills A Puppy Mill is a commercial breeder who breeds dogs solely for profit. They are distinguished by their cramped, crude, filthy conditions and constant breeding. At times, as a result of the constant breeding, sometimes these dogs are unhealthy and genetically defective. Female dogs are bred from the first time they go into heat and are bred every cycle. They become so worn down that their puppies are often born dead because they have not been able to provide the unborn puppy with the nutrition needed.
The dogs do not have human contact other than when they receive their food and occasionally when their cages are cleaned. Cages are usually stacked on top of each other and as a result the urine and feces drip onto the dogs below.
Often times a mill will sell some of their dogs to other mills and/or breeders at auction. Only breeders and mills are invited to attend these auctions. When these auctions occur representatives of our organization have been able to pose as breeders to purchase and free the Pugs from the continued torture and torment of living in a mill.
Our View There are two schools of thought to this, either allow them to be sold to other mills and breeders or rescue them. Our organization believes that it is more important to free these babies than to be concerned with the profit issue of the mills. Allowing them to be sold from one mill to another supports the profit motives of the mills, and the dogs continue to suffer. Rescuing them and providing clean loving homes does support the profit motives of the mills. If we do not rescue these Pugs, they will be sold to another mill, and they will continue to live in cramped, crude and filthy conditions and continue to be subjected to the torment and torture. Either way the mill profits. Our way the Pugs no longer suffer and are loved forever.
