I am approximately 1 year old and was brought to MPR because the money
was not available to treat my situation. The MPR vet will administer my
vaccines for Rabies, Distemper, Corona, Bordetella, do a heartworm and
fecal test and microchip me. A radiograph of my hips was done and it was
determined that I suffer from Avascular Necrosis Femoral Head. This is a
condition that may or may not need a surgical procedure. I am scheduled
to see the Orthopedic specialist on October 28th for further
evaluation. I am in no pain however the condition can worsen. As you can
see I am very thin and need to put on some weight. I LOVE to be held
and cuddled. I get along with other dogs and like children. Once the
Orthopedic evaluation is completed a decision will be made as to what is
best for me. Until then I am not available for adoption. Update
10/30/09: Stu had a surgical procedure to correct bilateral Legg-Perthes
and femoral neck fractures on October 29th. The procedure was a
complete success and Stu is now recovering at home. He is only allowed
light activity for the next 2 weeks at which time he will have his
staples and stitches removed. Stairs and jumping are not allowed. He is
on pain medication for approximately 5 days. At the conclusion of the 2
weeks he is to begin a regimen of physical therapy to accomplish the
stretching of the scar tissue. The prognosis for Stu is he will return
to a long happy and normal life without any physical restrictions and be
pain free. I have a new forever home with a guy who said I have never
had a Black Pug before and I knew he was the one for me! If you are
interested in adopting me or any of the Pugs currently residing with
Michigan Pug Rescue, please go to our web site, michiganpugrescue.com
and go to the Adoption info section where you will find the necessary
forms to download to begin the adoption process.
