Nina has received her medical clearance to be adopted.  Applicants that have received a letter indicating their application has been approved pending the commitment to adopt a particular Pug after which time a home visit will be conducted and where the entire family including current dogs have interacted with her can request to be considered to adopt her.  Because of the circumstances from which these Pugs came from, each request will be considered and every attempt will be made to place her in the best possible situation for Nina to thrive in.  The date that the family and other dogs interacted with Nina must be included in the request to be considered for adoption.  Requests for consideration to adopt Nina will only be considered when submitted by e-mail to pugluv@michiganpugrescue.com.  place “Nina”  in the subject line.  Telephone calls will not be accepted.

Nina is one of the 15 Pugs Pug Luv rescued from a puppy mill.  She is 4.5 years old..  She has been microchipped, spayed, vaccinated for Rabies, DHLLP, Bordetella, heart worm, fecal and blood tested and had her teeth cleaned.  As is the case with dogs that come from a puppy mill they are not housebroken or socialized.  She has done well with her potty training.  Patience will be the utmost to acclimate her to human interaction so she can learn what it is to be cared about, loved and in a situation where she is not just used to produce puppies. She is energetic and will paw you until she gets your attention.   When she was spayed an inguinal hernia was repaired.  The Veterinarian said that in her 24 years of practice it was the worst she had ever seen.  She believes she had so many litters of puppies and from pushing so hard she tore a hole in her groin.  She is still somewhat skittish which over time will resolve itself as she learns to trust people more and becomes more accustomed to noises and sudden movements.  Patience will be the utmost to acclimate her to human interaction, noises and movements and to gain her trust to learn what it is like to be cared about, loved and in a situation where she is not just used to produce puppies.  Patience will also be very important with regard to her potty training as with any dog when relocated they must learn to tell you and you must learn to read them about potty signals.  This will be even more important with these Pugs as the movement from the puppy mill, to the vet, to a foster home and again to their new home may be traumatic for her.  The potty training that has taken place  may revert until she is acclimated to her new home  If you are not prepared for all of the issues that are part of the process, do not apply to adopt one of these Pugs.

If you are interested in adopting any of the Pugs currently residing with Michigan Pug Rescue, please go to our web site, michiganpugrescue.com go to the Adoption info section where you will find the Adoption Application to download, print, complete and submit to begin the adoption process.
